Today we have some of the most efficient, powerful and enduring jet engines ever in human history. Thanks to companies like General Electric, Rolls Royce and others we are flying more hours between overhauls by 500% of that nearly a decade earlier. In fact jet engines on modern aircraft whether airlines, corporate or military aircraft have enjoyed the enhanced safety.

I propose to go even further. When an aircraft jet engine starts having problems there will be greater vibrations, these vibrations signal that there is a problem. Thus the engine needs to be checked out, a fan blade is damaged or the engine is going.

There are new consumer technologies which power up small flashlights using electromagnetic induction technology to charge a capacitor instead working off batteries. Currently these nifty micro-flashlights are being used which you can buy which use this technique and are available thanks to the Everlite Flashlight technology research lab. These smaller flashlights work by shaking them for about thirty seconds and shine for about 6 minutes and they shine quite bright since they use a very bright LED light. Here is a link to this home use flashlight:

Here is a quick movie you can watch online to see how this technology works.

I propose when the jet engine of an aircraft starts rumbling due to vibrational problems an LED light would either shine forward from the engine in question or it would shine towards the cockpit immediately alerting pilots. Some might say that aircraft these days have hundreds of sensors and entire panels dedicated to engines. This is true, but will they all be working it lightning strikes the aircraft or if you have electrical malfunction, engine fire or other compounded emergency. A fail-safe LED warning system would solve that potential eventuality. Think on that.
